Sacks of Snoozing - and Why We Love Them!

Sacks of Snoozing - and Why We Love Them!

According to Safe Sleep practices, a baby should not sleep with loose blankets until at least one year of age, and should no longer be swaddled once they show signs of rolling. Sacks of Snoozing are the ideal way to keep your baby safe, warm, and comfortable throughout the night - even if they're more active sleepers.

Snug enough around the neck and arms to not slide off, or slide up over their mouth or nose, but loose enough around the hips and legs to allow for kicking, rolling, scootching, and other movement, your Sack of Snoozing will allow your baby the freedom to find their favorite comfortable position - keeping in mind, the AAP recommends putting them to sleep on their back - but we all know that Little Ones don't always stay where they're set down! - without compromising their safety. By helping them regulate their temperature throughout the night a Sack of Snoozing also reduces the chance of your baby getting too hot or too cold and waking up fussy.

Sacks of Snoozing come in different TOGs (Thermal Overall Grades) which are suitable for different temperatures. Since Sacks of Snoozing are meant to be worn over the sleepwear make sure to carefully check the ambient temperature of the room your little one will be sleeping in.

The ideal TOG values for different room temperatures are as follows:

  • 0.5 TOG – room temperatures between 75°F and 81°F
  • 1.0 TOG – room temperatures between 68°F to 75°F
  • 2.5 TOG – room temperatures between 61°F to 68°F
  • 3.5 TOG – room temperatures below 61°F

As most homes keep their temperatures around 70-74f, we are currently ensuring that our Sacks of Snoozing all come in 1 TOG - though we intend to expand our options as soon as is feasible.

Of course, we know there are many styles of sleep sack out there to choose from, in a variety of fabric options, but we stand firmly by our belief that it doesn't get much better than bamboo if you're looking for a quality fabric that is soft, breathable, and hypoallergenic - which means its extra gentle for sensitive skin. It has also been shown to help reduce chafing and irritation and is a big favorite for anyone with eczema and other dermatological sensitivities to fabrics.

And remember, all Sacks of Snoozing come with a convenient 2-way zipper so that late night diaper changes can be done without having to remove the baby from them entirely, helping them to maintain a consistent temperature and disturbing their rest as little as possible.
